Transcript: The link between health literacy and health inequalities -Introductory video
Welcome to the Link
between health literacy and health inequalities learning resource.
This has been
designed for anyone in health and social care, along with those providing
public services, who have roles connected with health literacy and health
inequalities.
Poor health can be
associated with poor health literacy. And poor health literacy can have an affect on anyone.
Health literacy
impacts on our ability to process and use health information; and the ability
for individuals to manage their health by themselves, and alongside their
health providers.
With current health
information not being fully understood by 60% of the UK population, it is vital
that we improve health literacy where we can, and in doing so, impact on levels
of health inequalities.
In this learning
resource, you will find out about links between health literacy and health
inequalities, identify high risk groups, and explore actions you can take to
make a positive difference for everyone.
You will be
provided with tools and techniques to follow, moments for personal reflection,
and means to assess progression in your knowledge and understanding.
